Why Abel Reels?

Why I went with Abel: I was sick and tired of breaking $30, $40, $80 --even $200 reels. Being that I am a guide, I'm sure I'm harder on my gear than the average person. Don't you want to know that the gear you're thinking about buying has been pounded and holds up?

I was wearing out two or three reels a year until I met Steve Abel at the Somerset N.J. Fly Fishing Show.  Today, I'm still using the same reels he sold me then --that was almost a decade ago. Plus, they are 100% American made.

Here's the deal: all the name brand national fly fishing products have manufactured suggested retail price. I have to sign an agreement that I will not advertise a lower price. The advantage you have when buying from me directly, is that I have experience. Not only for smallmouth. I can get you set up correctly on the right trout largemouth pike muskie, even speckled trout and puppy drum, bonefish reel.  When dropping the kinda bucks you do on an Abel, you should be able to talk to someone that has the knowledge to get you set up right the first time.
